Chances are, you’ve read about British guitarist and singer-songwriter John Smith in the 46th edition of the Fretboard Journal. Over the years, we’ve also talked to him at length about gear, filmed him at performing our Seattle headquarters, and even convinced him to teach us a little DADGAD. Needless to say, we’re huge fans.
Smith just announced a gorgeous new album, The Fray (out March 26 via Thirty Tigers). Beyond being beautiful, introspective and loaded with great guitar tones, it’s filled with guest spots from some of our other favorite musicians: the Milk Carton Kids, Courtney Hartman, Bill Frisell, and Sarah Jarosz.
We’re excited to premiere “Eye to Eye” from The Fray with you today, featuring Smith and Jarosz. “This song is a plea for understanding,” Smith tells us. “It’s about the desire to hold someone’s gaze and feel a sense of belonging; to stand alongside our loved ones without a trace of fear or hesitation.”
