“Life doesn’t work the way you think it’s going to go,” a reflective Loudon Wainwright III tells writer Bob Douglas in the Fretboard Journal #27. “The world is a terrible place, haven’t you noticed?”

As that quote illustrates, no one rides the line between “dark” and “comedic” better than Wainwright. Over 25 albums, he’s made us laugh, cry and reflect on birth, death and growing up. Here, as a companion to that issue’s 8-page interview, Wainwright performs the previously unrecorded “Haven’t Got the Blues Yet” on his Martin D-28.
