Ojai, California-based singer-songwriter Aaron Embry has an impressive music resume. Over the last decade, he’s played keyboards with Elliott Smith, Jane’s Addiction, Daniel Lanois, Brian Blade and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Beyond being an incredibly talented arranger and pianist, Embry is also one of those rare touring musicians who has chosen to perform and record on the tenor (four-string) guitar.
On April 25, 2012, the Fretboard Journal filmed Embry before his gig at Seattle’s Sunset Tavern. It was a nice day (a rarity in Seattle), so we went left the confines of our office for a Cuban food run and found the perfect beach setting for a mini-set of music. Embry performed four songs on his vintage Custom Kraft archtop tenor guitar.
