Grant Gordy – “Prelude to a Kiss”

Grant Gordy playing this exquisite version of Duke Ellington’s “Prelude to a Kiss” had to be one of the biggest surprises we filmed during Wintergrass 2017. Yes, we knew Grant can play virtually anything but it was still a nice break from all the great bluegrass.

On this tune, Gordy turns once again to his trusty 1944 Martin 000-18 (read a bit about it in our interview with Gordy here). And be on the lookout for a lengthy feature on Gordy and his playing in mid-2017 in our magazine, penned by Steve Yarbrough.

Outstanding! Grant is also an excellent teacher. I am currently taking Skype lessons with Grant. He is opening my ears and mind to music in ways that increase my musicianship and hearing. Grant is very approachable and can meet you at your level. I highly recommend Grant as a instructor. His latest collaboration with Ross Martin “Year of the Dog” is a must!
