Tyler Wells of LHT Guitars in Sonoma County, California, has one of those seemingly atypical long, convoluted stories about his path to lutherie that is somehow typical in our community. Like nearly every guitar builder we know, in his earlier years he could never have imagined himself building instruments. F0r #FJFest, Tyler shares this cool video recounting a bit of his story and tells us a bit about how he works (read the whole story on his website). In the spirit of full disclosure, we’ve been lucky enough to check out some LHT archtops up close at past guitar shows (remember those?) and the guitars are thoroughly impressive and like nothing we’ve seen before. Check out the gallery below to get a closer look at some of his builds, and head over to his website for a look at more photos and instruments currently available.
#FJFest is the Fretboard Journal‘s way of staying connected during these difficult times: Expect to see never-before-seen shop tours from guitarmakers, unique music performances and a ton of beautiful instruments on a daily basis throughout March 2020 and beyond.
