John Lee Shannon – “Native”

Guitarist John Lee Shannon performs “Native,” from his Tompkins Square debut, In & Of.

In & Of was recorded during a three-day session at the Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, California. It’s filled with exquisite solo acoustic guitar compositions or, as Shannon likes to say, “songs without words.” The album was originally intended to be produced by Shannon’s friend, Neal Casal. With Casal’s passing, Shannon tried to honor the late guitarist’s vision.

Though he’s often seen with a small-bodied Guild, for this recording he used a 1964 Harmony Sovereign H1260 formerly owned by Jedd Hughes.

Filmed, edited and recorded by Jason Loughlin.
