The Fretboard Journal loves it when filmmakers take the time to interview today’s guitar artisans. So we’re happy to share with you The Sound, an all-new, hour-long documentary on resonator guitar maker Frank Harlow. For most guitarists, Harlow’s creations will be a new discovery but his name is well-established in Dobro circles and has been for years.

Filmmaker Dan Simon is a resonator guitarist himself and a fan of Harlow’s exquisite, completely-handmade resonators. The film contains a lengthy interview with Harlow and footage of his guitarmaking process. We hope you enjoy this film, which is currently airing on select PBS stations.
