Parker Millsap – “Central Pacific” (Solo)

Parker Millsap graduated high school in 2011. But don’t hold that against the young singer-songwriter, his tunes are about timeless as roots music gets.

The Oklahoma-based Millsap turned to music and began writing songs at an early age. “My dad is a big blues fan and a big singer-songwriter fan,” he told the FJ. Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt were on constant rotation on the home stereo. “Eventually, I discovered the Rolling Stones and then it was ‘who are they listening to?’” That question led to hours on the internet, uncovering new music influences.

During our session, Millsap performed one of his older tunes, a solo version of “Central Pacific” on his Martin OM-21. He also has a new (and highly recommended) 2014 self-titled album. Read more about Millsap here.
