Guitarist Kinloch Nelson performs “Secret Love” (yes, the Doris Day tune!) at the Fretboard Journal magazine headquarters.
“I learned it from Lenny Breau…there’s a great album called Minors Aloud, with Lenny Breau and Buddy Emmons playing pedal steel. And there’s a little lick in there that I took from Lenny.”
Nelson has numerous albums under his belt and is the subject of Tompkins Square’s 2019 anthology, Partly on Time: Recordings 1968-1970. That record explores some of his earliest and rawest recordings.
For this track, Nelson is playing his custom acoustic guitar built by luthier Bernie Lehmann.
