#FJFest: Tom Sands Guitars

Tom Sands of Tom Sands Guitars and apprentice Daisy Tempest help launch #FJFest by showcasing some of their latest creations from their North Yorkshire, England workshop. Sands, a former apprentice of famed luthier Ervin Somogyi, shows off two guitars he’s recently built. First up, a short-scale Model S he calls “Alejandra” with a torrefied Sitka spruce top and gorgeous Madagascar rosewood sides and back. It also has some very cool copper appointments, including on the back of the headstock. The second guitar shown sports a “really obscene” koa top and African blackwood back and sides. We also get a peek at Sands’ shop and one of Tempest’s builds.

Contact Tom Sands for more information or to hear more about his guitars.

#FJFest is the Fretboard Journal’s way of keeping our community connected during these difficult times: Expect to see never-before-seen shop tours from guitarmakers, unique music performances and a ton of beautiful instruments on a daily basis here and on the FJ‘s social media channels.
