#FJFest: Dave Miller – “Fellow Man”

As we wind down #FJFest, guitarist and composer Dave Miller contributes “Fellow Man,” a tune from his self-titled 2020 Tompkins Square album. Unlike the official recording, this stay-at-home video from Miller is stripped down: No bass or percussion, just the guitarist and his trusty 2008 Gibson ES-335 through a Dunlop Rotovibe. On the amp front, there’s an interesting Fretboard Journal connection: Miller uses a converted tube Newcomb E10-B PA amp head, modded by Truth About Vintage Amps podcast host Skip Simmons, through a Music Man 1×12″ cabinet.

Of the composition, Miller explains: “I wrote this song in response to the events which took place on August 12, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia. This is a tribute to the life of Heather Heyer, a declaration of solidarity to our oppressed brothers and sisters all across the globe, and an expression of gratitude to those who are actively involved in eradicating oppression and birthing equality, justice, and peace.”
