Podcast 247: Damien Jurado

Damien Jurado joins us on this week’s Fretboard Journal Podcast to talk about the making of his 2019 album, In the Shape of a Storm (Mama Bird Recordings). This album is a bit of a departure for Jurado – after years of making indie-folk records with big production, including his collaborations with the late Richard Swift – he decided to make as sparse an album as possible, just voice and guitar recorded in a studio on two microphones. The result is one of the most arresting albums we’ve heard all year.
