Andy Statman Trio Playing “Liberty”

We caught up with mandolin and clarinet great Andy Statman on one of his rare tours through the Pacific Northwest. Statman had just wrapped up a master class at the University of Washington and agreed to meet us at Dusty Strings music shop.

After a lengthy interview, we asked the Andy Statman Trio (Andy Statman, Jim Whitney on bass and Larry Eagle on percussion) to play a tune for us. Statman put his Kimble mandolin through its paces on this out-of-this-world version of “Liberty.” At around the five minute mark, we wised up and started filming him up close with an iPhone. We hope you enjoy.
