Podcast 113: T. Drew Heinonen and the Summit OM Guitar Build, Part Four

It’s starting to look like a guitar!

On this week’s podcast, we talk to luthier T. Drew Heinonen about the guitar he’s building for the next Fretboard Summit. This OM-style guitar will feature woods and parts from a variety of suppliers we’ve featured in our magazine and online over the years: The highly figured (and slightly controversial) koa came from Michael Gurian of the legendary Gurian Guitars, while the Lutz spruce top came from Pacific Rim Tonewoods. On this week’s podcast, we talk to Drew about how the guitar is coming together, how much “voicing” work can happen to a finished guitar body, his favorite bracing technique, bridge plates, glues and more.

The Fretboard Summit OM will be unveiled at the next Fretboard Summit, taking place October 14-16, 2016 in San Diego. Go to www.fretboardsummit.com for details on how you can attend this unique gathering of guitar fanatics.
